Here's another good pic of me working at the Ironwood Faire. The white rag at my belt is for rubbing down the iron after applying beeswax, which is what it looks like I'm getting ready to do here.

Is the tartan Fraser Hunting? And is it Weathered or Ancient?

Cavscout, I don't know if it's a real tartan. It was advertised as Ancient McLeod on eBay, and I bought it because it's a perfect length and looks good, but I think it may be a "bumbee". If anyone can help with identifying it, I'd appreciate it.

Smaughazard, the only tip I can really offer to make life easier is to figure out a set number of stripes for aprons and pleating, and always start from the same end. For mine, I lay it out as long as I can (sometimes you have to accordion fold the far end), count in three yellow stripes for the front apron, then count every other yellow stripe to pleat, leaving enough at the end for the underapron. Take a few tries to figure out just what works. Keeping it the same will help make sure it's right every time.

As for the tartan, I'd not worry too much about the tartan, but now I'm curious. As for my Belted Plaids/great kilts, my older two are "bumbees" (one is the same pattern as the pic in the Greenville game-> the kilt is actually part of the "excess" of my original plaid) and my newer two are blackwatch and dress gordon. The others are in line to metaphorisize into kilts.

Out of curiousity, how much material do y'all prefer in belted plaids/great kilts?

From what I can tell the tartan looks to be Fraser Hunting muted. My monitor is sort of dark so the lighter colors aren't clear, but if the base color is brown and the middle two stripes are blueish flanked by greenish stripes it's Fraser. What a great find!
