Yesterdays trip

Well here are a selection of pictures taken on our trip yesterday. They are spread over several posts. Our mission was to hike it up to the Carpenters Arms for some beers and a bite to eat. This pub is situated miles from anywhere and in the foothills of the Black Mountains. We past several great pubs on the bus but unfortunately did'nt have time to get off and take some beer and pictures. Next time we will.
Seventeen knew about the trip but it was left for anyone just to turn up on the bus if they could or wanted to come along. This is it

On the bus stop 8.30am

On route after we had got off the bus and heading to the foothills of the Black Mountains.

Elaine and Jean. The mountain in the background is know as the old man.

The mountains in the background are the southern edge of the lower hills of the Black Mountains.

Finally after a couple of hours our destination, The Carpenters Arms

A couple of pics from inside the pub ... its a one room farmers pub .. a great place ... known locally as 'The Gluepot'

Just leaving the pub. Vera in the picture is the Landlady. We have know her for many years. This pub has been run by her family for 4 generations. She was actually born on the premises as well.

And finally, another little watering hole we go to quite often, The Horse and Jockey. Thatched Roof and very old. Unfortunately we were on the last bus back so could'nt get off and go in. Twas a shame.

Anyhow hope you enjoy the pictures. Today were off to yet another old pub for Sunday lunch with some friends who could'nt make yesterday. Will take some more pics and post em again later.

Everything on Ontario is soooo new by comparison.

Nice tour. All thats needed is the smell of diesel and a cold beer and we're right there with ya!
