Congratulations RR! Isn't life wonderful when working while kilted?

Although I no longer work, I'm always happy to read these posts from members who are now wearing kilts as daily attire at their jobs. Congratulations, and I hope you get a break in those super high temperatures soon.

hmmmm....giving me ideas here. Wonder how long it will take me to work it in that way. Of course, I'll need to add a few more kilts to the wardrobe, not that it would be a bad thing

    Ok. Devil's Advocate here.

"'Tis better to ask forgiveness, than to ask permission."

I think the phrase is, "It's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." Better implies a moral imperative. Easier just means you couldn't be bothered to get the OK first. One problem I can see in showing up to work in a kilt without checking that it's OK first is that the corperate reflex could be to amend the dress code to ban kilts for men. Since you've been wearing them for a while already, that may not be a danger for you, but somebody might think you're pushing a little too hard and they need to push back. Having permission in writing would be a good defense against that. I'll bet that for most guys, if they show up to work in a kilt without checking first, their boss will tell them not to do it again. And that may be the least of their problems.

"Courage seeks neither permission nor forgiveness ... courage simply does what's good and right when others for a thousand reasons simply won't."

We're talking about what to wear to work, not thowing off the mantle of severe repression. There's nothing "good or right" about wearing a kilt. It's just a clothing choice. I just saw an article that said that wearing flip-flops to work could cause problems for a woman trying to have a career. To me, I think it would be a good idea for most people to check with their boss or human resources before they show up to work wearing something radically different from the norm.

I just started wearing kilts to work last October.. Now I wear them every day.. I never asked permission. We don't have an official dress code. They just say we can't wear anything obscene or "distracting".
