Funny...we stay in a hotel near the Albert Docks in Liverpool now...the docks seem to be "the" place...bars, restaurants, Tate Museum, shops...trendy stuff.
When we returned from the open I walked to the docks to book a table for tonight...
A group of Japanese tourist took pictures of me..some locals on a day trip did the same...when I booked the table...the waitress said "wear your kilt..."
Today I was wearing the Xmarks again (boots, greyish blue hose worn low, black casual belt, Freelander sporran and a pale yellow polo shirt).
Many nice comments today!
A lady walking behind me stopped me and told me I was wearing a quality kilt. She seemed to be a kiltmaker and when I told her the kilt was made by Barb Tewksbury she was outright excited...she read the book Barb wrote.
A guy from the BBC asked me if it wasn't a bit too hot for a kilt...I told him about the fresh sea breeze (laughter from the crowd)
Furthermore...
A lady to her son:
"Ow...that gentleman is wearing a kilt!...and a jolly nice one!"
A lady to her husband:
"Isn't that something for you dear?"
A young lassie to me:
"You're so damn cute!"
A lass in the merchandise shop:
"A MAN IN A KILT!!!!!!"
Watched the open all 3 days, on TV, and spent as much time looking at the galleries for kilts as watching the golfers. Haven't seen one yet, but I'll watch again tomorrow
"A day spent in the fields and woods, or on the water should not count as a day off our allotted number upon this earth."
