This is the kind of reaction you're going to get most places. My neighborhood has quite a few Hispanic families and you'll never see a group that has a stricter idea of or dedication to a machismo image. The reactions and comments I get from them are either a confused look or very positive. One of the gentlemen has told me I'm the subject of conversation on occasion and the consensus seems to be that it takes big cojones to dress like that and it might be unwise to get smartmouthed about it. Over all I think you'll find people are positive about kilts and the few smartmouths will either be in a moving car going by rapidly or be hidden in a crowd and won't have the nerve to say anything directly to your face and can be safely ignored.

We have a very large hispanic population in North Ga. The reaction to the kilt here is identical to Bubbas description. I get a LOT of confused looks from them when I'm kilted and wearing a clergy shirt.
Enjoy being kilted and wear it with pride!

Cool site. You can add the U.S. Army Special Forces Tartan to your list of military tartans. Registered at Scottish Tartans Authority as No. 6519 and developed by myself and my old team sergeant. Keep up the good work. I can send you an attachment of the tartan to you at your private email if you like. Just send a PM and i will follow up.

I found that yesterday, when I was thinking about doing my first public appearance in a kilt. I was so surprised that it just happened to be kilt day - the first day I was going to wear it in public.
However, then I did more Google searching and found old comments from people saying, "Did you know that today was Kilt Day?" and they all had different dates so I figured it out. But I think it's a great idea, I really do.
...
Actually, I was born on kilt day (pronounced killittoday) but rather than change the name of the day they called me Russell and went on about their business!

Hmm....doing the hokey pokey in a kilt. That would be something new. :-)
Everything seems like more fun in a kilt... :-)
I'm glad I was able to do this while I was only 50.

Well....since you brought it up....last night I went for a walk and I got my wish, it was quite windy here in the desert - and over 100 degrees.
Walking in the wind is a totally different experience. My goodness!
I really wish there was some way to close the front of the kilt. I'm so paranoid when the apron starts flying up in the air. That only happens when I am walking INTO the wind. It happened in Flagstaff last weekend when I was walking into the wind as well.
Oh....and in Flagstaff I was caught in a storm downtown. I got out of the rain and was holding down the apron in the wind but for a brief moment I think the back of the kilt flew up in the air.
Today I will be receiving my UK Mocker and also today my new denim Union Kilt was shipped from England.
