I may get the nylon sporran in the future (I have a feeling I will) but I like the look of the Rob Roy a lot.

Rocky, thanks for the tip. I'll see how it goes. I'll get flashes eventually either way. At first, I didn't know how I felt about flashes, but after seeing a lot of pictures, I think they add quite a bit to the overall look. But having only an olive AmeriKilt, red, navy or green won't look very good. To be sure, those colours will be added to my wardrobe eventually, but for now I'd like something pretty neutral (like black, unless I can find some OD green or similar shade fabric to make the flashes myself).

To Southern Breeze: Now that is my kind of twelve step program. I've been amazed at the amount of time I have spent online lately searching out kilt-related websites the last couple of weeks. I've even had a few dreams about getting kilts and accessories . . . wow, I'm an addict for sure . . . and I love it

    I'd arrange it differently:
    1. Kilt
    2. Sporran
    3. Hose
    4. Pin
    5. Sgian
    6. Flashes
    7. Shoes
    8. Jacket
    9. Plaid
    10. X-marks
    11. Make your own
    12. Repeat

...that's just how I did it...

    A Third order:
    1. Belted Plaid
    1a. Bonnet
    2. Sporran
    3. Kilt
    4. Hose
    5. Sgian
    6. X-marks
    7. Pin (then realize not that important after all )
    8. Flashes (When realize nothing to hold up hose or Sgian )
    9. Make your own (kilt, bonnet, flashes, etc.)
    10. Shoes (ones JUST for kilts )
    11. Jacket (or make/convert some)
(Fly Plaid-> Maybe-> if convince self FABRIC not better used to make another kilt)
    12. Repeat

There is a lot of loot in a kilt, ain't there!!!!!

The great thing about the Xmarks Twelve Step Program is that it can be done in any order, and you will always end with satisfactory results

Just got my Rob Roy sporran and oatmeal kilt hose. The sporran is great; very roomy. But the chain belt has got to go. It is not very adjustable at all, being just a length of chain. So, now I must decide on a leather/chain, all leather (my first choice) or some of those handy belt loops that eliminate the sporran belt. I rather like the look of the second belt for the sporran.

    2 options with the chain...

    1. Cut it to length
    2. Clip on 1 side and run it around behind you. Run it THROUGH the metal rectangle on the back of the sporran and DOUBLE IT BACK on itself. Clip the chain to itself where it will sit nicely in front.

You could always order one of those really nice braided leather sporran straps from Robert at Rkilts.

Just thought I would help you along the road to recovery so you can start over again.
