Hello, my name is Mike and I am a new guy to this site. I find the site fasinating and full of information. I bought my first kilt in June at the Celtic Fling in Pennslyvania. I had always wanted one and have look for one to fit my 6'3" frame, but to no avail because they are all pretty much standard length 24" (Try looking on E-bay, all the same length)
Anyway, for years now I have had my celtic blood activated and have yearned for all things celtic, music, art, history, festivals. I have been smitten
and I am following my heart to satisfy this great desire.
Anyway back to the festival...It was a great time! I love the music and the atmosphere. My brother and I and some friends were about to leave when I
stumbled onto USA KILTS. The owner of the shop was glad to help me and in a matter of minutes I had a kilt that actually fit. It was actually long enough.
I heard my brother in the distance say,"Look at the sucker, He is getting a kilt
well, He is not getting one without me too!" So we both got our kilts and finally took the plunge. The owner of the shop said,"Ah! guys you have to take your shorts off under your kilt." "You can't wear a kilt with shorts on."
My brother said, Oh!! Well off came the shorts and dam it was really cool.
I am now looking forward to getting another kilt . I wish I could wear it too work..

The owner's name is Rocky and he is a member of this forum. Which kilt and tartan did you buy?

Rocky made me a Casual kilt in Scotland's National tartan and love it.

Welcome from the dry desert sands of Southeastern New Mexico! Good to have ya Mike! Many of us are of Celtic ancestory here. Then again, there are some members here who are not. Many of us wear and or prefer tartan/traditional kilts and some prefer contemporary kilts. One common thread that binds us all is the love of the kilt.

As mentioned the man you bought your kilt from is Rocky and he's a regularly posting member here. I'm awaiting my first kilt from him (4th kilt overall.) From what everyone's told me they are some of the best. I can't wait.

So, pull up a seat. And enjoy your stay with this rabble.

I might also mention. KILTS ARE HIGHLY ADDICTIVE. Some of us are utter shells of men overcome with obsession and addiction.

I tried my first kilt about two weeks ago and I'm hooked. I have never felt anything so comfortable in my life!

I have no Scottish blood and I'm ordering solid-color kilts from Union Kilts, Amerikilts, and Utilikilts thus far.

I am one inch shorter than you at 6'2"

Don't we all? Wearing a kilt takes a special connection with a much larger world than the small one most of us inhabit here.
