In order...
Shirt - Usually a t-shirt or polo.
Kilt/Cilt - I wear my UK's more than my Tartan(s).
Belt - I always wear a belt.
Socks/Hose - Depends on the weather and where I'm going.
Boots/Runners - Also depends on where I'm going.
Sporran - Almost always, even with my UK's, just not around the house.
Kilt/Cilt Pin - Only with Tartan.
Jacket - Depends on the weather and where I'm going.
Hat - If I feel like wearing one.
Misc -As for a knife, I don't own a Sgian dubh (yet), but I sometimes keep a pocket knife in my Sporran.
Then I look in the mirror to make sure I look as good as I feel.

Typically, it's this:
1. Underwear (if worn )
2. Hose
3. Shoes
4. Shirt
5. Kilt (since it goes over the shirt tail), kilt pin already attached
6. Belt (if no waistcoat)
7. Sporran
8. Waistcoat (if worn)
9. Jacket (if fly plaid is worn, it is already attached to jacket)
10. Headgear

I almost always do the shirt
then socks
then shoes
and only then the kilt
followed by belt and sporran
I find it much easier to sort out the shoes before having to bend over and around the kilt!

- Shirt
- Kilt
- Socks/hose (if worn)
- Belt (if going out in public)
- Sporran (if a pocket is going to be needed)
- Footwear (if going outside)
- Vest/jacket/coat (if necessary)
- Dog (No, I don't wear the dog. But he's been sitting there for the last seven minutes wondering what's taking me so long.)
This is the "everyday" wear list. The items and order may change slightly to reflect formality and weather.

Shirt
Kilt
Socks
Footwear.
I don't dress in "formal" kilt attire. I didn't like dressing up when I wore pants and I won't do so just because I wear kilts.. I dress for comfort..
