I second Rocky's suggestion of Dark green (think of your Blackwatch green, Kilted KT) with Red lettering.

You will probably do well if you have one choice from a warm pallette and one from a cool one -- and choose colors which are easy to match. Red may look good, it's a bear to match (one nearly always looks orange or pink next to another one).
I like black with white writing (easy and neutral / cool which will go with most palettes), but since black can be hard to match to a black kilt, use a dark charcoal.
Dark (hunter or forest) green or a navy blue would be good cool choices (again with white writing). Dark, smokey versions of the colors will be easiest to match.
Use any "fall" color with cream writing for a warm palette shirt to go with the kilts in those schemes.
