    Smailholm Tower

hae far frae Dumfries is it?
Dumfries to Hawick via Lockerbie & Langholm = 53 miles; Hawick to Cleikimin via A698 = 10 miles; Cleikimin to St. Boswells on A68 = 8 miles; turn right at St. Boswells Village Green onto the B6404. After 2 miles is the turn off for Dryburgh Abbey; then its about another 2 miles to the turn off onto the narrow road up to Smailholm Tower, so about 75 miles from Dumfries; easily possible for a day out from Ferintosh and can be combined with a visit to Dryburgh Abbey.

    Excellent images, thank you!

I saw (on another forum) some images that a fellow had posted from Callander, over the weekend. And it immediately had me looking at travel sites, pricing airline fares. I've been back Stateside for four whole weeks, how long is a guy expected to hold out?

More great pics. Looks like that was a nice hike up with a beautiful view as your reward.

Beautiful pics. We used to drive past Smailholm Tower often on our way to visit my grandparents.

Dryburgh Abbey is worth a visit too. I was at a wedding there last year; I may just have some kilted wedding pics somewhere.

Wonderful! I am really enjoying these pictures of the historical sights. History is a big interest of mine, and this sort of thing really makes me want to visit!
