this is where the raw spirit comin oot o' the stills
is divided intae foreshots, middle cut, an after shots...
anily the middle cut is kept... the others gae back tae bae distilled again...
ya can see the spirit poorin oot oan the left side...

she runs the tastin room....
a' distilleries give ya a wee dram after the tour....
Isobel gives ya many different yins...
if ya hang oot and chat a bit...
she gave ua a taste o' Glenkinchie 10 & Glenkinchie Double Matured...
& Blair Atholl 12 & Benrinnes 16 ...
& Caol Ila 18 & Pittyvaich 14 & ...
... Mortlach 12...
noo THAT is ma kin' o' woman!

sae ai bought a few....
a picked oop a Glenkinchie Double Matured, a Benrinnes, & a Blair Atholl...
mmmmm.....
then we were back oan the road headin hame....
greit distillery tae visit if ya arr ever in Edinburgh....

Excellent illustrated report, P1M; great pictures and an enjoyable read. But I think you would have needed a larger kilt to conceal that illicit still!

Great pictures-what you cant relate in pictures is the smell of the distillery, its something else. Wonderful

Again, brilliant as ever P1M!
I lived in Pencaitland in the shadow of the maltings when I was wee, and the lovely light Glenkinchie IS my favourite malt - not that I'm in any way an expert.
Funny though, I was talking to friends a couple of weeks ago about Scotland. The perennial question (apart from "do you have a kilt?") cropped up: Can you recommend an good single malt. So I recommended Glenkinchie and made a rather rash promise...
Maybe I'll just turn up there in full highland dress 'wi a full boatil (and tak some photaes)'.

I totaly agree!! I have only been to bourbon distilleries.. The thing I remember the most is the sweet smell of the rack houses!!
