For anyone who might be interested in hanging out with the Kilted Columbus folk at Dublin's festival, we're meeting for the Knot Fibb'n show at the Irish Pub Stage at 11:15 am on Saturday. Feel free to message/email me with questions if you need!

Sorry, folks, I posted on our Dublin Kilt night thread before possingk pointed out I was missing this thread.

I am hoping that we will be there for the 1115 gig. Since we are staying right around the corner, it should not be a problem. I will either be in Ireland's National or a Marton Mills County Laois Crest...

Just look for the bald guy...I stand out in a crowd...

Well, maybe we can meet up again next year. Take care, Josh

    Dublin Irish Festival 2006

    Hi all,

Got to meet Hosehead this weekend in Dublin (who fortunately recognized me from a picture I posted here a while back). I was working at the Utilikilts booth with a few guys and had a lot of visitors, but only one X-Marker that I know of! I didn't get a chance to get out of the booth too much, unfortunately, so I didn't get the chance to walk around and meet'n'greet. Hosehead, sorry we didn't see each other on Sunday but I'll look forward to running into you again (and hopefully get to meet PossingK as well) next time!

It sure was fun to put kilts on a bunch of guys for their first time and watch them finally "get it." Our booth was full of people all day long on Saturday and most of Sunday (I didn't work on Friday night), and we far outsold what the guys said they sold at the Festival last year.

I have to wonder how many of these guys are going to now put their new-found freedom in the closet until next August or even St. Patrick's Day, though... still, a little more kilt-wearing is better than no kilt-wearing.

So who else from the board was there? Hosehead said he did see one fellow wearing the XMarks tartan... who might that have been? And did any of you stop by the booth and talk to the short-haired guy in the khaki original on Saturday/chocolate brown workman on Sunday?

    Jamie

As always, Dublin was a blast. I hope possingk and his wife enjoyed their inaugural trip.

It was a great pleasure meeting both jfellrath and Killiansirishred. I wish I had more time to spend with the two of you. There was a noticeable lack of kilts/kilt accessories this year. Perhaps because of the large number of kilted folks there (Jamie and UK had a lot to do with that ) we will see more kilt vendors there next year.

The entertainment was great (very pleased with the Saw Doctors show, the Celtic Tenors were great and Gaelic Storm put on a great show). I also had the pleasure of spending some time with the Dublin Firefighters Pipes and Drums...as a result, our Lochiel Emerald Society Pipes and Drums may make a cameo appearance next year with the lads from Dublin.

    Where are we going next?!?!?

We were over by the Celtic Rock stage - as soon as you crossed the "bridge" near the Wee Ones area, you needed to turn left. That was actually the one bitch we had - the marketplace we were at was not well marked. But we had so many sales it hardly mattered.

I wouldn't have been able to spend much time with anyone, we were so swamped (as you noticed!). The Dublin Fest hasn't really grabbed hold of the kilt-sales thing yet... Dublin's pretty conservative and they don't go for the stuff they consider more "far out," but I think that's changing since they had Flogging Molly there two years ago, and since UK came for the first time last year. We can only hope...
