I had a pond aprox the same size w/ Koi at my last place. I started with 3 wal-mart fish and they grew to enormous size and reproduced prolifically. It really hellped that house sell quickly to have it. O'Neille

Miah, looks like a great start on that pond. The weather has be rather warm this summer for that kind of work. Maybe on some Friday you can bring the kilt with you and we'll have a kilt night here in the Springs. I know there is one other kiltie here now and we might get GMan down from Denver. IF he has business here at the same time.

I've done a lot of research and photography in Japanese Gardens around the North American continent (that's how I got to go to Canada the first couple of times) and this koi and pond thing is just simply a really good, fufilling and healing kind of thing...hobby or obsession...but try not to get obsessed. I've been in some fantastic places where the carp will basically crawl up onto the shore to take food from your hand...and these were some dreadnought class koi, brothers and sisters...big enough to be almost scary.

When I say to not get obsessed, I guess I'm thinking of the folks who are charting the water temperature every thirty seconds and checking the pH hourly...one of the nice things involved in "ponding" is that you can do some basic research, set things up nicely and then let nature take its course and enjoy. Looks like you're going to enjoy your set-up.

that pond looks like it is off to a great start! I had koi for a few years, they grew to almost 24 inches long! I'm sure you will love the pond once it is finished!

Watergardening, of any type is indeed a relaxing and fullfilling hobby. I consider myself fortunant in that I'm able to be involved in it as part of my job. If I ever start my own busisness, it'll be this.
