Gents:

Got up early because the wee one was wailing, then after a while got Daughter Two and the Missus back to sleep, had some coffee, facing the morning and checking out X-marks.

I was just reading a review of the Stillwater Saffron, and thinking, "Yeah, those are really nice kilts." (Now that I'm getting a business up and running, I have an excuse to order some "business attire" kilts, after all, so I picked up a trifecta of Stillwaters in the shadow tartan---green and saffron and black.) I'll probably wear the black one tomorrow to work, with a dress shirt and hose and re-dyed and polished Doc Marten's shoes.

However . . . at the same time, I'm sitting here in my SportKilt funky red Maui floral print "pyjamakilt" while I drink coffee. The yard needs mowing, and the odds are that I'll jump into one of my Utilikilts for that---"Scottish jeans" for yard work.

Later on, we may swing by some friends' house for a BBQ and a few beers, while the younguns romp with the dogs. I figure that'll call for either the USAK, or the PK desert MARPAT, or the resurrected NeoKilt "frankenkilt" (huzzah!). I like the Stillwaters just fine, but whether the acrylic or the wool versions, they can get pretty warm sometimes, and there's a real feeling of relief stepping into a nice lightweight kilt like the USAK casual or the PK.

It's really nice to have the variety of kilts that we've got now. I can sure see the merits to the people who advocate eight yards of wool as THE answer, but I really like my equally sharp looking, but much lighter USAK, PK and NeoKilt. And there are times it's hard to beat the rugged casual comfort of the UKs. As for the SportKilt---well, the wife sewed down the fell, and it makes a wonderful lounge-around-the-house type kilt/pyjama/thingy. (Nightkilt?)

SportKilt note: if it was a tartan and not a Maui floral print, I'd wear it for very informal outings, and not just around the house.

It's all good!
