    Missed Opportunity at Church

I played drums today at church for the first time in quite a while. I thought briefly about wearing my kilt but decided against it. While we were playing our "Welcome song" where everyone stands up for a moment and greets those around them the pastor walked over to me and said, "Where's your kilt?" Shoot! I knew I shoulda worn it! Guess I need to start living up to my reputation.

I haven't been to church in several years . But, it's been calling. Anyhow, when I do return I'll definately be kilted. I have no suits, but a closet full of kilts... so.....

I neglected my kilt today and it was pointed out.

And now I have a religious exemption for playing music, no skill!

LOL . . . I have some modest skill, but I find I have no reason to play religious music. Go figure.

Where I went to church today there were two kilted guys. We were both wearing UK Mockers.

I have a friend who wears a kilt occasionally, he drums in a church band too, but for some reason he refuses to wear his kilt to church, he thinks it's inapropriate, for the life of me I cannot understand why.

Any place is good to wear a kilt - especially church!

I like that particular verse because some folks don't like loud music or drums in the church. I've worn my kilt while playing but it's a bit difficult because, if you're familiar with how a drummer sits behind a set, you have to spread your legs apart so as to accomodate the snare drum. Also, we use an electronic set so there's no bass drum in front of me and no tom-toms providing cover. It can be done but it's a delicate operation!

Tattoo...no time like the present to answer that call. Now gird thyself in thy kilt and get thee hence!

I don't wear my kilt to church because it is not a venue where I believe it appropriate to draw attention to myself. After a while it would stop being novel, but I don't want to force that transition period on everybody.
