Thank you very much for the welcomes. I'm hoping to learn more about kilts. I didn't realize that there were so many makers of them.

Welcome to the boards from arkansas. I'm sure you'll be able to find your tartan.

    Welcome!

What's the tartan you're hunting? There are some folks on this board that can root a tartan out of almost nowhere

In an ancient Scottish tartan, my clan is Shepherd. In the Irish clan Maguire.

Easy-peasy. The Shepherd tartan is also the Northumberland Check, also referred to as the Falkirk tartan/Border/Shepherd's plaid:

    http://www.regiments.org/tradition/tartans/northumb.htm

    http://blog.albanach.org/2006/04/nor...nd-tartan.html

The first link is to the Northumberland Tartan Co. in England, but other kiltmakers offer it, including our own Matt Newsome. It's much more common than you think.

As far as the tartan for the Maguires goes, have a read on Matt's web site:

    http://albanach.org/clan.html

    http://albanach.org/macquarrie/

You can't go wrong with Matt!

    Cheers,

    Todd

I'm hoping that I do. I found one years ago in the ancient clan tartan shipped from Scotland. I don't even remember who the maker was.
