First, thanks to those who keep this place tidy. I appreciate being able to be a guest here.
Second, I didn't see the original thread, so I'm viewing all this through the "hypothetical" lens; my perceptions may be missing some key facts. If I'm off track, just keep doing what you're doing well.
I was just thinking about the whole "where did my thread go" emotion... You moderators may already do this. You may have tried it and decided not to continue because it wasn't working, etc.
...... but if it were a thread which I had been contributing to and it just vanished, I would be less likely to reopen the can of worms on the forums if I simply got a notice from the mod saying, "thread deleted because of xyz". If nothing else, I'd at least take it up with the moderator privately rather than in open forum posts.
Knowing the 'whys' may not be a panacea for all hurt feelings when a thread is deleted, but it certainly helps to know the process behind it. The mod's public explanation in this instance was very thoughtful. I'm sure many of us acknowledge the need for 'family friendly' but never even thought how our language here could affect key word indices on search engines. Thanks for helping create a positive environment for us, guys. We DO appreciate it.

If we lock down a thread we usually try and Pm the person that started the thread. The same goes for deleted posts. I always add a reason to the post or try and PM the poster.
Sometimes people want to take it up on the forum again, or they go to another forum and take it up there. Whatever works for them I guess, but I don't get it either.
We are all more than happy to exchange a PM to explain the situation, or reasoning. I have been a member of this site since the beginning, and I am happy to give something back.
