Well, did you bring enough for everybody?

Perhaps someone should have warned you -
If you show off craftsmanship like that on these boards, you'll get people queing up to buy...

Let us know if you decide to start selling them!!

I hope your man knows how lucky he is!
Evidentally not, since he divorced me. Grrrrr . . . . Sorry, I won't go into the filthy details.

Anyway, I've actually traded O'Neille a kilt for a pair, so I'm fine with knitting them for others. I'm just a slow knitter, so you'd all have to wait your turn.

As for a pattern, I'm not really using one. I couldn't find one I liked, so I decided to go nuts with seed stitch and cables.

The general pattern is this: Sport weight wool on #2 double point needles: 5 stitches = 1" so 14" requires 70 stitches, etc.

For the first six inches, work in 2x ribbing. This'll be the cuff that will be doubled over, so you get 3 inches of cuff showing. Then work in stockinette stitch with seed stitch every four stitches (or more, depending on your taste). Arrange the cables to be on either side of the calf. The cable stitch is 2 purl, 6 knit, 2 purl. Then on every eighth row, catch the first 3 knit stitches on a cable needle, hold them in front, then knit them last. Work the cables right down until you turn the heel, then round off the cable. (cables under shoes would rub and cause blisters) Keep up the seed stitch lines and make the foot.

Now do it again. Voila! You have kilt hose.

So, those of you who wish to own a pair of these beautiful hose can see what the going rate is. http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=20291
I would have paid for them but trading skills seems more in the spirit of things. Those are looking great. I can hardly wait to see a picture of your hose while wearing the mini kilt and flashes. O'Neille

Has anyone noticed the fact that we MEN are admiring and drooling over hand- knitted hose? This just proves the addictive power of the kilt is mighty indeed!

Thanks for the instructions, I'll never be able to knit a pair but at least I'll know how it's done.
