got it. I was not puttin 2 an 2 together. I was just going off the price per yard. the kilts on the kilt page however are a good price.
I did not look on the second page, I was just using this tartan as a well known example.

For Campbell of Cawdow Modern you could indeed pay the prices you quote if you really wanted to have it woven to order and picked the most expensive option, but you could also get it off the shelf for less than half that, with a superbly hand-made 8 yard traditional kilt coming in at about 340 US dollars!!

I'd be extremely grateful if you could explain to me what wasn't obvious to you in our selection process that you managed to miss this! If you key 'Campbell of Cawdor' into the search it returns 17 different materials we have available. It's true that the lowest price is on the second page (not obvious enough? thinks: probably). But even on the first results page there are Moderns a lot cheaper than what you quote. Your advice would be invaluable, as this is just the sort of misconception we'd love to iron out!

    Much appreciated. :-)

Nick - I'm very impressed by the speed of your new system, and also by the organization of the tartans. I'm sure there will be suggestions as to how to organize them (as there already have been quite a few) but your system is among the fastest and easiest to use that I've seen. WELL DONE!

Cawdorian - different mills weave in either 'single width' (c. 28") or 'double width' (c. 56")... and sometimes they even move their production from one to the other. This is just one of the many wee complications we have to cope with in providing automated pricing! But you should in fact see the width of each tartan listed beside it, both on the 'range' pages (e.g. where you see all 17 Campbell of Cawdors side by side) and on the individual tartan final page. But I notice that on the latter we've omitted to translate from metric to inches, so I'll get this fixed too. Thanks.

As a past customer, very nice improvement. In looking through my tartans the speed wasn't bad at all, the only problem I've found is now i'm looking for a new kilt! Arrrgghhh...

    Gents,

Here's a hint for finding US military tartans in this database: they all have the term "US Forces" as the first words in the tartan name. Examples:

    "US Forces Army"
    "US Forces Air Force"
    "US Forces West Point"
    etc....

I quite like this format. My search for "XMARKSTHESCOT" tartan came up empty though!

Seriously though, this is a wonderful on-line resource!

Nick, this is much easier to navigate to what one is interested in than before. As I am waiting on my Gordon Balmoral from you, I looked a the Gordon bunch. If you are serious about good photos of real cloth, I'd suggest making sure you get at least a full sett of a given tartan in each picture. For example, the 18 oz Gordon modern from Batley is dreadful, and the 16 oz from Marton is nearly as bad. I know it's a monumental task to review all photos for representativeness, but otherwise the customer has to struggle and guess. Generally, Edgar and Lochcarron don't seem to have this problem, although it does show up here and there.

Thanks for your attention to continuous improvement and customer service! Hoping fervently that Kiltstore can beat the projected dispatch date for my tank. I've got 2 HGs to attend.

I like it. I looked up University, Kerr, and Gordon and there where several to look at and compare.

turpin - I'm disturbed by what you say about not having the full sett for some. I'm guessing that this may be due to the swatch that they send us not being large enough. But that's just off the top of my head. I'll discuss it with the data entry team on Monday. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

    Thumbs up

    Hi Nick,

I can't seem to find the MacTavish (1439) that I am having my kilt made in.

Also the listings for Thomson are all under Thompson (the English spelling - isn't tartan Scottish? ) When I search for Thomson it points me to Thompson - how about pointing to MacTavish as well as it's essentially same name?

Good search though! I wish I had been able to use it last week.
