I have only recently started wearing a kilt. My wife is anything but supportive. She barely tolerates it and wants it reserved for renfairs only. She goes ballistic if I go without boxers. Advice on this from anyone but, especially from the ladies, would be appreciated.

I have a USA tartan from Sport Kilt and a solid black one I will probably reserve for formal occasions like theater, opera & nice restaurants. I have my eye on a Royal Stewart and a Gunn as well. Within the next year I hope to get up enough money for a full 8 yard Clan Skene.

I am very comfortable in a kilt and will wear one anywhere except to Mass which could be a distraction from true focus, and work where dress code would not allow it for "customer expectation" reasons.

This last weekend we went with another couple to dinner at a very nice restaurant downtown & the other fellow & I both wore our kilts. I did not know till recently that he even wore one.

Within the next week I hope to finish my profile on this site by putting up my pix & contact information.

I am glad to be part of the group.
1. Welcome to the forum. I get to memphis 4 to 6 times per year on business. Perhaps a Kilt nite?

2. Don't let the kilt get in the way of your marriage, but slowly look for opportunities to expand your TIK (time in kilt). Hopefully your wife's objections aren't because you get more attention than she does.

3. Wear boxers, but cut across the crotch. you still get all the bennies of being regimental, with no red helmet from wool-skin contact, and reduced body oil on the kilt.
