    Hey Ham,

Didn't you say your hosts were looking for somewhere special to take you? Venturas only a "few" freeway hours from Palm Springs...

Check out the Seaside Higland Games website if for no other reason than to hear surfing music played on bagpipes!

Just when you think you've heard everything.

Many thanks for the info. Ron, and the link. Yes, I like that music, but maybe a little will go a long way!!!!! We have to remember that Jim and I are house guests in Palm Springs - I don't feel we can tell our hosts what we want to do or where we want to go - unless they ask us, of course. They knew from the outset that there was a chance that we'd want to spend one evening away from them with our Internet friends, but that's all.

What I meant was that our hosts had planned to take us to a really 'swish' restaurant/cabaret in Palm Springs on 14th October - a real dress-up place and somewhere really special apparently - knowing that I was hoping to get together with my kilted brethren sometime during the two weeks , but NOT knowing that the same date was being worked on! I am still awaiting confirmation that a kilts night, or similar, WILL be taking place that evening before getting back to those kind people Jim and I are staying with.

    Thanks again for the link.

    Hamish,

Do you know if your flight is nonstop across the US, or will you have a layover somewhere? I am not far from Omaha, NE, which is about smack dab in the middle of the US. If you will have a layover in the Midwest, we may be able to have an impromptu gathering of Midwesterners at the airport.

    Just an idea.

    Hello gents,

I realize that I will be unable to attend this event, but it appears to me that somebody needs to take charge of coordinating this affair. Ham has said he would be available, but he obviously does not have any knowledge of the area and where to meet up. If it is going to be Durty Nelly's, should someone make reservations for all who can confirm their attendance? It sounds like CT, O'Neille, and Phil are all confirmed, and that the time is somewhere around 5-7. I would hate to see this become a kilt night that never was, especially since Ham's hosts have the opportunity to plan another outing for that day. If it is just Ham and the other 3 I have mentioned, can someone make reservations and confirm the time?

    Sounds like fun...

Understand the dilema. I'd love to drive over too but turns out I have guests from the East that week too....grumble....

Alas, ND, our flights are non-stop London - Los Angeles - London (11 hours each way .......Eeeeek! I hope there is more than one movie, and that they're ones I've not seen!!). Nice thought though - thank you.

Planning this when none of us lives there is proving exceedingly difficult to say the least.

I attempted to call that Durty Nellie's place and was informed by a recording that their phone had been disconnected.

I would like to offer the above original recommendation as a possible "plan B" although I am wondering if there is any way we could possibly impose upon the "Palm Springs friends of Hamish" to perhaps suggest a proper meeting place for five to ten kilted guys who would like dinner, drinks, and good music.

I am somewhat at a loss here....however I would like this meeting to take place and I certainly don't mind making some phone calls.

I was going to make a reservation for 7:00 in the evening for five to ten kilted guys under the name of "Hamish" but then I could not get anyone on the phone....

O.K. I've heard that a lot of people who were coming have since found they had other engagements. Who is coming!? Or, should we allow Hamish to spend the day with his hosts. O'Neille
