I thought I'd resurrect this thread to tell you what happened. I didn't wear my kilt to either the wedding or the reception, because I was asked not to. I just put on the standard slacks, blue blazer and tie.

Guess what happens while I'm dancing with the bride. She asks me where my kilt is??? Go figure.

    It's not just you.

I still have retinal burn from the time I saw someone wearing "trews" in the Dress McLeod, AKA the "Dress McLOUD."

Weddings do weird things to the bride and groom. Especially to their memory of requests made prior to the wedding.

You can always wear a tartan tie and cummerbund with a suit. People will still ask about it. OR.........Talk to the groom and get him into a kilt for the ceremony. Ah ha!

when I got married I told my soon to be wife ....the day is yours ... however you want to do things is up to you ....just tell me what time I need to be there IN MY KILT and all is well!

needless to say when the budget kept increasing by 300-500 bucks every other week... I didnt complain cause I knew I would be kilted for my wedding!! it still ened up being less expensive than I thought

this is how I always lookd at it

women buy a 3k dollar dress they wear once in their life
men RENT a tux .......who's gonna have final say on EVERYTHING from the big day on?

That's the first time I've heard of a guest being singled out ahead of time with respect to attire.

On the other hand I've heard of women on occasion wearing tuxedos to formal events without issue.

It is after all a womans prerogative.

    Jeez Dave,

You killed her right? When's your preliminary hearing? I think most any attorney could get you off on justifiable homicide....
