I'm with you about everything you said about the UK grey mocker with one exception:

Since originally posting this I have (on Hamish's advice) gotten a pair of grey flashes to wear with the brown hose. Also I would wear brown dress shoes instead of the hiking boots (or no flashes)

Didn't Virginia cavalrymen and infantry wear gray with brown leathers? Might work fine in the Virginia area....

Ron,

I've learned over the years that generalizations regarding Confederate uniforms (or lack thereof!) are a very, very dangerous medium to work in! :mrgreen:

BUT, brown is appropriate with grey. I have seen several pictures of gentlemen wearing brown shoes with grey suits in satorial style guides.
