To answer your original question ----

The waist of the jacket is a little large. To re-cut it though would take a good tailor. Preferably one with experience making military uniforms.

It would entail taking in the side and back seams. Don't touch the front at all.
The placement of the shoulders seems perfect. It just needs a little tweeking in the curved side and back seams.

If you're anywhere near a military base go see one of the tailors in the nearest town. Find one with a lot of mess dress jackets in his shop for work. This shop should be able to do the job very well.

    Critique?

You have a good sense of style and you do not look out of place. One point worth mentioning however - Highland hose (as worn with kilts) are not soccer sock! Perhaps you should fold them down a tad so that you can get three finger widths from the hose top to the knuckle of the tibial plateau at the side of the knee (that's the bump that you can feel on the outside of your knee), which is an old army rule. I can't help feeling this will improve the appearance of the whole outfit. Enjoy the experience!

I don't know anything about formal rules, but I'm with PS on this. I would roll down the socks to the point where the swell of the calf is beginning to recede - kinda' like a collar sitting around and on top of, the widest point of the leg.

Just a touch more fitted in the waist would be perfect. Shoot a pic when it's done. O'Neille

Can I ask what color that kilt is? It's difficult to tell from my monitor. It sort of looks brownish-orange but I'm also wondering what the color is called?

Phil, that's the saffron kilt. It is usually associated more with Ireland and Irish pipe and drum bands, but Stillwater has been selling it recently as well. The colour has been mentioned in the body of this thread and a lot of people have been ordering them recently.

KT, the outfit looks good. The black hose may aslo look real good.

OOPS! Sorry... I thought that Saffron was a type of cloth, I didn't realize it was a color...

the wedding went great...and everyone thought the PC was fantastic! ( my mother in law, who was a bit confused about my kilt-wearing, thought it was, and I quote, "HOT").

    I'll have pics up pronto.
