That gave me a chill James.

I pray that no one ever has to face the horror of war. And I give thanks to all those who answered the call when it became necessary.

My mother tells of hearing the air raid alarm as a child in school, following the drill and heading home to the local bomb shelter. Only in Scotland, the alarms were usually late, because bombing was infrequent. She rushed home to be met by the police, her street had been hit. They told the children to rush back to school only to find it had been hit, too. Fortunetely, nobody was killed but she had shrapnel through her house.

This summer I was in Connecticut at my uncle's looking through old family pictures. Many of my dad's family have the comment "killed in the bombing" beside their name.

My wife's uncle went down in a plane over Burma. He was in the service. How sad for all those people and that it still goes on for civilians today.

My dad was badly wounded in WW2, also his brother William ,A Spitfire pilot was killed in action in Africa. I will not forget them or any of the other brave men who fought in the wars.
