That website is run by the Gold Brothers and Hamish recommends against buying from this company due to the low quality of the products. Their pv kilts are not made of the same material that USA Kilts uses to make their excellent kilts.

Scottish members of this forum tell us that solid black kilts are popular in Scotland. However, Gilmore is correct about black readily showing lint and hair. Also, many people don't recognize a kilt for what it is if it is not tartan.

I don't think a tartan kilt is especially formal. It can be dressed down for casual wear with the right accessories. Take a look at Hamish's photo gallery. He is a master at dressing a kilt up or down.
