Sporran alternatives?

Sometimes I think a big part of the fun is in finding what works for you. It can be a hoot, and it can be frustrating. And I'll sure agree that we carry more "stuff" with us than I think men used to!

Well, since I took those photos I've added a celtic knot medallion to the flap and changed the belt for a black one, still in nylon with a fastex buckle but more neatly stitched. On or off in a flash.

Inside is a cell phone pocket, two large zip pockets, two smaller zip pockets, change purse, key hook, and a neat little slot for my folding knife. The more I use it, the more I love it. It'll be with me in Scotland this year, and will do a great job of keeping my passport and other goods safe and accessible.

I use it for all my casual kilting, but I do go back to the leather for "hose up" occasions.

And it doesn't look like roadkill.

I do like it and wouldn't mind seeing the newest pics with the celtic medallion attached. I always think the juxtapose of old and new ideas is cool.

Jeff, why bother with a sporran, its ok for formal dress but for casual attire i find that its more comfortable without one, especially when driving the car, the sporran can get in the way of the steering wheel

well I went to our local "surplus store" here in tucson: found a newer version "fanny pack" style pouch, it is about 2x bigger than the ones they made in the 80's (and big enough to go around my fat @#$!

try looking there.

I went to walmart in search of a case for my phone as it seems to have learned how to leap from the cell phone pocket in my shorts. Since my phone is quite old, it doesn't fit any of the cases or holsters available. However, I found a camera case that had room for the phone, a wallet, another small object (usually earplugs) and a front pocket which is perfect for my keys. Best of all, it has a 3 inch belt loop, meaning it fits on my kilt belt.

It holds everything I need, it's small, comfortable and durable and it cost less than $10.00.
