But enough of football and high school rivalries. I just noticed your location, Clinton SC. Are you attending Presbyterian College? That's where the Brookwood Marching Band holds its band camp.
Also, Kilted_John_Sporrano, I currently only own a Black Original UK so my kilt wardrobe is obviously limited. It also looks a little strange when you wear the same thing several days out of the week.
Nope,I just live in Clinton. I went to Erskine College, though my wife is from Clinton. (I am 30 now with 2 kids-> age 3 and 2)
I saw Brookwood signs in Burgundy and yellow and knew what they were for. I though of decking myself out in orange blue and white, go find the Brookwood band and yell at them:
GO BIG ORANGE!!!!! GO PARKVIEW!!!! GET EM PANTHERS!!!!!
Rivalries are SO MUCH FUN, as long as they stay lighthearted. There is NOTHING sadder or more stupid than real harm done in the name of a rivalry of friendships broken.
The Keiths and Gunns have a great friendly rivalry based on centuries of bloodshed. YET, few would do real harm and I (a Gunn through the Wilsons) have yet to be treated badly (or even meanly), even AFTER I ID myslef as Gunn associated and make an anti-Keith crack!
YET, many take the anti-Campbell thinks WAY to far and threaten REAL HARM to Campbells and those wearing Campbell/Hunting Grant/Black Watch tartan, calling them "Baby Killers." I've had to actively save some unfortunate people (some of whom had NO IDEA their cheap Black Watch tartan was also Campbell colors, yet they were EXTREMELY confused what was happening) who were under abuse at the hands of the half-educated and bold. In most cases (when Glencoe was the excuse) I asked them to name the commander of the army unit at Glencoe and his superior as well as how many were actually killed out of the HUNDREDS asleep in their beds that night. Another time I asked them if they were Catholic (one had on a **** Presbyterian Church fellowship event shirt), then told them faltly that the Campbells were GREAT allies of the Presbyterians throughout the reformation and restoration issues. Another time a MacGregor was SLAMMING Campbells that each should DIE, so I told them of ROB ROY signing himself as Robert MacGregor Campbell (which he adopted during MacGregor proscription, in honor of hs mother and his protectors-> 2 seperate Champbell bigwigs). A long way of saying, KEEP IT IN CHECK.
Rivalries are A LOT of fun, as long as no-one takes it too serious!
For those ouside the Lilburn area, Parkview was started in the mid-70s in the then-rural outskirts of Atlanta. In the next decade the area exploded, so in the mid 80s, Brookwood was born out of Parkview, even using the Parkview athletic facilities until Brookwood built their own around 1990. Now, there are 2 of the best high schools in the state of Georgia (academicly and athletically). The Parkview class of 2004 lost their ONLY game in their high school football game lives in their senior year state championship game. Parkview won a few state championships around that time.
I'm just GLAD to hear of high school students in that area ACTUALLY wearing kilts to school!!! THAT is COOL!!!!
Parkview Grad,
