			Museum Replicas Kilt

Have any of y'all seen this thing up close?http://www.museumreplicas.com/websto...ants/kilt.aspx

 I know it CAN'T be great (it's $35).

BUT, as Museum Replicas is a decently reputable company (practically an institution in some circles), I was wondering if it was decent for the price.

It LOOKS like a utilikilt-type thing in tartan (intended as general description, not as a jab or direct comparison to the actual Utilikilt company and its many followers here-> almost like Dale Jr. at a NASCAR race). Anyone know ANYTHING about it?

(AND NO!!! I am NOT planning on getting one, the $35 could be put to use in materials for another kilt or kilting kit.)

There were a few threads a few months ago about these and their contemporary version, the Practi-kilt. Not much to say about them. For a few more dollars you can get a wider tartan selection from Stillwater Economy's.

Oh yeh, I remember that now.
I forgot completely. I was looking to see what their current selections were (I have a few from them) and noticed it.

I SHOULD searched like normal. I didn't remember them carrying kilts, though I probably simply forgot.

As for their clothes, I must plead total ignorance. They seem to know swords and blades though. I know of a fair number of vendors who buy blades stuff DIRECTLY from them for resale. One of whom I MET there buying supplies. (I have promised NOT to reveal exactly WHO though, on ANY of them)

I've seen the Museum Replica's/Atlanta Cutlery cheapo kilts in person and they are just horrible, even as a casual kilt sort of affair. They resemble something an unknowing mom might sew for her son's grade school production of BRIGADOON. Stillwater is still one of the best bargains out there for an inexpensive, yet wearable kilt...especially the wool heavyweights.

I agree with the previous statements made. Museum Replicas sells some decent blades, but their kilts are wretched bits of cloth. I have shirts sewn from heavier cloth. Might serve for a Halloween costume, but not much else.

I've seen one. You might notice in the picture that it appears that the only apron overlap occurs exactly for the width of the sporran, and there are two buttons on the waistline.

I was just wondering how bad they were. I hope this helps someone else now. Personally, I was expecting this thread to have died already.

Grrr! I was kinda excited about them considering the price. I didn't expect the quality of AK or UK, but after reading the search results here for museumreplicas and practikilts, I'm concluding that these things aren't even worth $50.
