There's no smilies list either......

Ron, these fellows are explaining it pretty well. Quick Reply is, well, quick.
The text entry window is right there, waiting for you to use it. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the WYSIWYG editor, but it is quick.
A feature I like is the quick-edit of a post. A quick editor window opens, you make your edits and then submit through AJAX, without waiting for another page load.
I'll see if I can work up a complete list of all the user changes that are now in place.

I don't know how computer literate Ron is or isn't but there are a lot of acronyms in there.

How do I apply for the free scotch....er, I mean the job. I can drink a lot of free scotch. I might even do some work, but then, I'm retired, and work is a "four letter word"

Ooops and Oh, dear! I have obviously missed something vital - I was not aware of any changes!! Being strictly computer illiterate, I have an innate fear of clicking on things I know not of and therefore do not stray from my own well-trodden paths......
Having now been made aware of some new facilities at X Marks, I have just taken a quick look and have to confess that I do not understand what some of you whizz-kids are saying! No offence, it's just that I have never had instruction in these matters. I think I'll just use what, for me, is tried and tested - it will be safer!!!
Oh, smilies? Now, I like smilies and always have used 'Cosgan's Smilies' but they are rather limited. Do I understand that there are smilies available here now? Where are they - please? I have often wondered where you guys get some of the marvellous smilies one sees in use from time to time.

Hi Ham,
You get the smilies option by first clicking "Go Advanced" and then waiting for the new edit window. Clicking a smily at the side inserts it as a code. You can see your posting properly displayed by clicking "Preview" before you finally commit to posting it. You can keep re-editing up till then. Same goes if you insert pictures, you can check the result before actually posting for real.

Many thanks for the guideline Jim (it comes to something when a relative Newbie has to show an old lag how to do something! ) ........ However, I see no "Go Advanced" upon which to click, and I believe I have looked everywhere!
The "Preview" facility is not actually new, and I invariably use it to check everything is in order before I post anything.

If the "Peview Post" button is already there, and there is no "Go Advanced" its likeky because your profile is set up for advanced editing as default, in which case ignore that bit
