I like the way he drops his kilt at the end...
Guess he's not worried about getting wrinkles pleats!

Good old Bond-san in his kilt. Shame it's such a formal outfit I reckon.

And what's wrong with formal attire? Would you expect any less from Bond?

In the context of the film it was perfectly correct. Firstly Bond was attending a formal meal hosted by a "Baron" and secondly he was supposed to be representing the College of Arms.
You will also notice that he was not wearing a belt (you can see this when he sneaks around after the meal), again perfectly correct as a belt is not worn under a formal jacket.

Ahhh, the Kimono, the OTHER incredibly comfortable and good looking garment type that people in this country will look at you funny if you wear it out in public.

I think the very formal attire makes kilting look a little antiquated and out of touch. I must admit it's been several years since I watched OHMSS and I forgot the occasion he wore it to and in this case formal was correct.
Bond(o)san is what he's called in these parts that and "zero zero seven".

The film was made in the late 60s (1969) when I guess most kilts were worn pretty formally anyway even as daywear.
But I would disagree that it's "antiquated and out of touch"
There is still a place for it, it looks very smart indeed on the correct occasions. It's just that people are now discovering the greater versatility of what can be worn with the kilt.

He'd better look good in it: he was a male model. I saw it for the first time on Thanksgiving, and while I loved Bond in a kilt and smoking a pipe, there's obviously a reason he was only Bond once (in this case, you only live once).
It looked to me like he was wearing a Prince Charlie and a vest. He wasn't wearing a Montrose, that's a full double breasted jacket.

I was more entertained by the young lady's reply when he dropped his kilt.
"It's TRUE!!!" she squealed!
