Congratulations Jim! I am as impressed by your talented colour co-ordination and visual balance as I am by your sewing ability. I really cannot comment on the latter as I have never finished making the kilt I started about five years ago (didn't have enough fabric anyway!), but you are absolutely spot on with the overall appearance.

You know, though, when you make your own kilt, it's de rigeur to show off the pleats, too!

....not that I've always wanted to!

I have just purchased a jacket that I am going to try and covert. If it turns out, I'll post pics. Very casual.

I dont' have any pics of the pleats with me wearing it, but here it is on the table...
    Pleating done to the stripe.

Everyone has been very supportive and I thank you for that!
I have another one on the table...wool with a nice pseudo-tartan pattern. This next one will be my "winter kilt" since it is very thick and warm. I'm doing this one to the sett and after much head scratching I finally figured it out.
Here's what the material looks like:

AND.....I just ordered some more material yesterday. This time a wool blackwatch.
You know you got it bad when the material starts stacking up faster than you can sew it up
It don't mean a thing, if you aint got that swing!!

Looks awesome Jim! You should be proud, nobody would be able to tell that was not made by a practiced kilt maker. How long did it take you?

    Nice pleating job!

I know what you mean about accumulating fabric. I have a number of female friends who have a term for this, that I won't share on a family-friendly board, but I constantly have to restrain myself in order to not join their ranks!

Don't feel bad, I'm going to cut out my X Makrs tartan today, and I've had it for a YEAR!
