    Kilted Housewarming

I am currently visiting my parents this Christmas and brought my Olive UK and my SWKs (Nightstalker and Economy Black Watch). Went to a housewarming party for some old church friends' new house and wore the UK with a 5.11 red polo, "scroonched-doon" wool socks and hiking boots with the SWK nylon sporran. All in attendance were generally much older than I, as they were adults when I was a wee Animal. One lady (in her mid to late 70's) paid me a very nice compliment by saying "It's so nice to see a man in a kilt these days..."

Even the "seasoned citizens" know a real man when they see 'em...

Another old family friend asked if there was a special reason for my wearing a kilt. I told her "I only wear it on days that end in 'y'."

Ladies DO love a man in a kilt...

Great story. I think sometimes we forget those who have gone before us. It was a very nice compliment that the older lady paid you!

For sure, I attended a concert of the Cincinnati Men's Chorus this afternoon in my new Tewskbury MacGillivray, and the most effusive comments were from the ladies of a certain age. A companion of one of them, an older gentleman, asked me if I was a marine. It turns out that he was one once, and one of his uniforms was a kilt, "and nobody had better say anything [derogatory] about it!"

    Regards,
    Rex.
