    Clan Pollock?

Are there any other X-markers that have ties to Clan Pollock? We're one of the oldest Clans out there (supposedly) and they are closely related to the Maxwell's. In fact you can wear both tartans either Maxwell or Pollock. I've traced my family history back (Pollocks) to exactly wear the Clan Pollock historians have traced it back to which was 1066 A.D. We are descendant from President James K. Polk the 11th President and my 2 or 3 times Great Grand Uncle. Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else here was a Pollock/Polk.

    Thanks

Pollok Estate on the south side of Glasgow was the ancestral home of the Maxwell family. It is now the Pollok Country Park and Pollok House is open to the public at certain times. You will find this link interesting.

    Clan Pollock/Polk...

I've moved this thread to the heraldry & tartans section, since it is discussing the history of a particular clan.

If I may suggest, you might wish to read "Polk's Folly: an American family history" by William R. Polk. I read it a couple of years ago for a talk I was giving on the founding father of the town where I reside, Springfield, MO, which was founded by John Polk Campbell, a cousin of President Polk.

    Regards,

    Todd

I've heard of this book and probably should get it.
