I ordered two SWK before the holiday season (my first real tartans truth be told) and have been nothing but impressed. The shipping was lighting fast (three days I think) and the quality for the price is fantastic. I have a nightstalker tartan casual that is quite nice and a Royal Stewart that is my "Christmas Kilt" and will continue to be. I wore it to my Gf's holiday party and was pleasantly surprised to see her senior partner in a plaid jacket of the same Tartan. He and I became instant friends and he still asks about me when he sees her around the office.
I am short of stature (five foot six or seven depending on the tape) and I took mine to a tailor down the block. She charged me 20 dollars a kilt for hemming, and I considered it cheap considering the prices of NYC.
I can only recommend these kilts as a formal but economical compromise. They are plenty warm, plenty "swishy" if you know what I mean and they stand up to a daily commute and subways well.
I only wish that there were more tartans available, 'cause at 100 per kilt all in I would "collect them all."
Merry Christmas Y'all
