Hey Cinnabar, don't know if you saw the thread a few weeks ago. But, Blacksmith here at Xmarks, was very generous and made me this erlenmyer flask pin, which is specific to what you and I both do.

look in the phone book under Advertising specialist, That would probably be the cheapest way of getting someone else to do it.

Depending on what you wanted there are many Hopi craftsmen who might be able to do the job. I can ask my lady to see if one can do your work if you want.

Have you considered ceramics?? I made a handful of simple St. Andrews discs this summer, glazed with different colors, and added studs with epoxy. They work great.
They might break if bashed against something hard, but so far I've had no problems.

And with this post I'm now Gentrified!!!

Thanks for the input everyone. Although I like the idea of doing things myself I can see this easily turning into the most expensive kilt pin ever sort of thing. I have enough hobbies and not a lot of free time, unfortunately.

Tattoobradley - I like the erlenmeyer flask pin. In fact it's not too far off from one design I was thinking of; the "unofficial" symbol for geochemistry is a test tube crossed with a rock hammer.

Tartan Hiker - ceramics might work for some people but I am always smacking my kilts pins into things and I'd hate to break one. That may be a good lead for other though.

Riverkilt - I might be interested depending on what they charge. I can PM you if you need more info. Thanks!
