Davezero... come on up... looks like there's a party brewin'!

Livingston... against my personal preferences, we're flying. I wish we could make the trip on 4 wheels. I hate flying.

KT... I'd wave, but I'm sure I'll be out cold. A little gem called NyQuil always helps me fly.

Retro... great plan. At the risk of overstepping my bounds, I'd ask that the kilt night definately happen at the Tilted Kilt... plans have already been fairly well cemented to do an after faire gathering there with a few people who are waiting to see us.

As for the Highland Games... I'd love to make that, but there are several Rennies who will be meeting up with us at the faire. The whole family will be in garb, and I'd be hard pressed to talk the wife into the Games. I'll see what can happen.

Well, the Ren Faire and the Games are "Freeway close."

I can accurately guess that the weather will either be hotter than you'd expected in February or a hard rain with resulting muddy quagmires at the Ren Faire.

Wow, I go away for a week and everyone decides to converge on AZ at the end of Feb. I'll be at the Mesa Games that weekend so count me in for a kilt night. I've got to go check on what I missed last week. O'Neille

Well then it sounds like a plan then. Count me in. I guess we can hit both the games and the faire in the same day and it sounds like it will be a hoot!!

Well... one of the ladies in the group we're meeting at faire is from England and loves all things British. She'd probably be fairly receptive to going to the games. Maybe we could do faire from open till about 3ish and then head to the Games. I have to discuss this with the wife and the Rennies, yet.

It does sound like a blast, though. We'd all likely be making the games in garb, which could make for an even more interesting time!

If you come to the Games later in the afternoon in Renaissance attire, you'll probably find that you're not the only ones. Since both events occur on the east side of the Valley, I've noticed over the years that as the afternoon progresses, there's a growing influx of folks in Ren garb who have done just what you've suggested - gone to the Ren Faire in the morning & then stopped by the Games on their way back into town. Plus, there's several groups of re-enactors at the games including representatives of the Kingdom of Atenveldt (the local SCA group), the CROFT (Celtic Re-enactment Organization for Fellowship and Trades) who dress Ren, the 1745 Jacobite Society, and The Highland Rogues (a swashbuckling group). So, getting Medieval at the Games is quite acceptable!!!

    Hey Blazn,

The last few years I've been to the Mesa Games they've had a large exhibit of British mini-cars...I'm sure the club has a name, but remember lots of British flags around the display of cars. Maybe someone wiser than I with a better memory can provide the details to help entice your British friend to the games.
