One of my considertions is how slippery the back of the sporran is...so it doesn't abrade the kilt. I noticed the other day that my SW Nightstalker Sporran seems to be causing a little "fuzzing" on the front of the kilt that I was wearing. It reminded me that I once carried a smallish cordura nylon camera bag over my shoulder for a long trek and when I took it off I found that the cordura had rubbed a hole in the sweater that I was wearing. Love my Nightstalker sporran but I'll definitely keep an eye on that phenomena.
...which makes me all the more anxious to see when the leather version of the Nightstalker is due to come out...

Refurbing the 15$ SWK sporran
I talked to my local leather dealer (with the prices he charges, I wonder why he is not rich) and was informed to soak the flexing point of the sporran with water and set it so it closes properly, then let it dry. Next he said to use a product he sells called "LEXOL" 'Leather Conditioner', only on the inside of the flex point and that should take care of the problem, according to him.
I followed his his directions and IT WORKED! When I put on the Lexol, the leather sucked it up like there was no tomorrow. The next day, today, it closed with little effort and closes with a click of the snap. I can put things in easily since the flex point actually now flexes and no longer acts like spring steel.

good to hear you got the problem fixed and I'll have to remember Lexol for future reference.

i have a stiff sporran that is hard to snap, but ive found its much easier if you push on the flap just above the snap instead of the snap itself, not sure if this helps.

of course the inexpensive option is to use little velcro tabs on the underside of the flap placed about 1 inch in from the edges.
