Thanks for the insights guys. We have about 30 kilted in my AOH division but only a few of us have multiples. Those that only have one either have a Black Watch or some Stewart variation ( I usually wear a SWK Black Stewart for parades ). One guy has a kilt that is primarily purple. I don't remember what the tartan name is but it's very unique (sort of like Derek's yellow/gold - it stands out in a group.)
I guess for some reason, I never thought of the Royal Stewart look as "traditional". In our area I don't think any of the pipe bands wear something that red and they are the ones that make me think of tradition. Maybe it's the whole Rowdy Roddie Piper from another thread?
