I'm partial to the MacLachlan myself ;)
but I'm in agreeance with many here. I've heard a few people say something about a kilt needing to be red. My sister, for one, was asked by my father which tartan he should get for his first kilt, between MacLachlan and MacEwen. She said MacLachlan, as "it's red, and kilts should be red." She's only 8, so I'm not sure where she picked that up, but even some youngsters have that mindset.
