Doesn't mean you can't get them from a package however. I would avoid ticket touts offering you tickets when you are there though, they charge ridiculous prices and we have heard of tickets for many events not being genuine.

I am spending a couple of nights in Stirling next month so will no doubt share a few piccies on my return!

My new wife and I would like to take our honeymoon in Scotland and would love help from "the experts" (that's you!). We would like to go sometime in early August and have a true Scottish experiene instead of JUST the touristy stuff.

What advice can the wonderful XMarkers give? I've heard there is a huge festival around that time - should we try and see it? We would love to see a variety of castles, Wallace monument(s), and good Scotch...I mean restaurants.

Thank you very much for the offer! We have the ability to stay at our time-share locations for free and they have one right in Edinburgh. How long of a drive from Edinburgh to Dumfries? Based on the previous posts, it looks like central Scotland will make our travels a bit easier to see as many sites as possible.

As a Glasweign, I can say that Glasgow is a beautiful city. It is full of great place's to see, the Art Galeries, Transport Museam, Burrell collection, lots of kilt shop's-Hector Russel-Slange etc. The architecture is awesome, there are shopping mall's everywhere, & there is an underground system that you can use, to get from one place to another.Also the people are very friendly. I highly recommend it

Am I correct in assuming that someone from Glasgow is referred to as a Glasweign? It's good to know these things BEFORE visiting the country!

At this point, we certainly plan on visiting Glasgow. We will most likely be staying in Edinburgh with trips to Glasgow and a possible swing down to Dumfries to visit the hospitable Ferintosh!

Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Our main concerns are:
1) Good whisky (your recommendations of labels or locations would be wonderful)
2) Scottish history (Wallace, Burns, castles, etc.)
3) Kilts
4) XMarkers!

Folks, thanks again for giving some advice to a new couple of Scotland visitors.

As I mentioned, we would love to learn more about Scotch whisky. Can anyone recommend a good whisky distillery tour?

He just made a spelling error is all. Glaswegian is the correct spelling.
