A little humorous note about Chief John. I am not sure if any of you are familiar with some of the MacLeod folklore, but at Castle Dunvegan is the MacLeod drinking horn. It holds close to two bottles of wine. Upon coming of age, the next in line chief must drink from the full horn, without lowering it or spilling it. Chief John did this on his 18th birthday in one minute 55 seconds. I must say that is quite a feat. I also have a drinking horn that holds two bottles of wine. I can't do it.

All of my best to the family and friends of the Clan MacLeod chief, as well as Clan MacLeod members. You have lost a very special person.

My condolences to his family. His son now gets to drink from that horn and has a lot to live up to! From the article, it seems he wasn't a very popular guy and tried to sell the seat of the Clan.

Actually, he was very much loved by the clan. Castle Dunvegan is his home, and he is the one who has to pay the tremendous bill for upkeep. There is no way the clan society could raise the money needed every year for the upkeep on Dunvegan. I don't know for certain, but I think that idea was raised. He had to do what he had to do. If it cost you 10 to 20 million to upkeep your house, wouldn't you get rid of it? :-) For now, the MacLeod's still hold onto their castle, for 800 years. Beat that you other clans. :-D

My prayers for the family and friends of the Cheif of MacLeod. Take some comfort in that he suffers no more.

I was hoping to go to Dunvegan and see if I could sit down with the chief and pass the horn around.
