Am I correct in assuming that the board also translates post times to 'my' local timezone?

The software allows you to select your local timezone.

In the navigation Bar, click on User CP
In the left column, click on Edit Options
Scroll down to Date & Time Options
Select your Timezone in the drop-down menu
Scroll down and click on Save Changes

When you are not logged in, the forum time reflects the timezone of the server, where the site is hosted.
