    Dee,

Too bad they don't sell them separately , it's a handsome pin.

    Mark,

If you do meet Howie you need to rush up to him and ask him "Howie How do you do, it's a pleasure to meet you. Wow is it true that you have met THE Hamish Bicknell? What is he like? Did you get his autograph?"

    Cheers

Oh, VERY droll, Jamie! Very droll.

By the way, if you attend the Storrington Gathering in June 2008 you too will meet THE Hamish Bicknell, set foot in his home and, if you ask nicely, will be given his autograph ......... why, you might even get to be photographed with him! How about THAT?!

Sounds wonderful. But I'm afraid the Lovely Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess and I can't plan quite so far in advanced. I still am so disappointed I couldn't arrange to make it down to Palm Springs when you were visiting California last year.

    Cheers

I am not sure that anyone is planning this far ahead, Jamie. I provided the date early so that folks who might be interested could make pencil entries in their diaries now, to be acted upon later.

Well, I expect to be there again in October of this year! In fact, it might just become an annual visit (provided I remain in Jim's good books - he's my pal who has invested in a small property there!)

    Ham,

Let us know as soon as you have set dates! I, and I suspect a few of the Northern California rabble, won't let a second opportunity go by to meet you.

    Cheers

Like Hamish, I keep all my kilt pins on the kilt. I have worn pins on my suit and sport coat lapels for years. When I started collecting kilt, moved some of these to the upper aprons. Most are not traditional sword or knife shaped but I'm not a very traditional man.

Here are a few (saved to gif format to make them friendlier for dial up folks). Enjoy.

This is the beautiful New Hampshire State Tartan. Pin is on a Black Economy but I sometimes wear the tie.

Sorry if I made your computer CRASH!!

My father's USAF wings. I remember seeing these in Dad's dresser drawer as child.

I don't know much about them. My father flew seven low-level daylight precision bombing missions as a tail gunner in B-17s, but very rarely talked about his wartime experiences, even when queried.

They wings have developed a heavy dark patina over the decades (the photo below is a faithful representation). I assume they're pewter or similar metal; whatever they are, they're pleasingly heavy, and appropriately sized for a kilt pin. I think I'll leave them as is - unpolished.

Incidentally, that's a picture of my father up there as my avatar. Handsome devil, wasn't he?
