Its sort of funny that he didn't understand the ears, because last Saturday I took my family to a family St. Patrick's Celebration at a near by pub (Quinn and Tuite's in Grand Rapids, MI) and I was wearing my black utillikilt workman's, a black band shirt (Craic Wisely, they were playing), a fashon tartan cap, black soccer socks pushed down and hiking boots. I looked at my wife and said "I feel like I should have both ears pierced and have my tattoo already." Different looks and all that.
(oddly enough my wife seemed to really like the idea of me getting my ears pierced, but then said she wasn't sure it would look that good on me. I didn't expect that.)
I gotta say that the versatility of the kilt in achieving different looks is often overlooked. I love that about it.
