im lucky becuase my lessons are free, but its also a well known band and has been around for a long time with three generations of pipe majors

Most bands will teach you for free if you agree to play with them for a couple of years, and whislt many instrumenst can cost upwards of £10.00 per hour to learn jioning a band is a great way to learn perhaps even get a free kilt on loan!

I don't particularly want to march in a band. I just want to play for my own enjoyment.
The place here that gives lessons says that for $90 a month you get:
-half hour private lesson on a weekly basis and a one hour group lesson on a monthly basis. They will start you out with reading music (which I need) to performing. I have no idea of how long this process would take.

What do you pipers think of this deal?

Thanks Haukehaien. I will be much better able to listen intelligently to the pipes just for that small bit of knowledge.

Which you can't do with great Highland pipes; the chanter sounds continuously throughout the tune. Instead we use a wide variety of embellishments, from the simple G gracenote to the crunluath a mach.

Same here, and I'm entirely too busy earning enough money to pay for MadBagpiper's pipes, lessons, traveling to games and performances, popcorn hose.....yikes, I better get back to work! :yes:
