Now the kilt was only for day-to-day wear. In battle we donned a full-length gown covered in sequins. The idea was to blind the opponent with luxury!
And the reason for the law being on the books...

Should have asked "why wouldn't it be?", I'm curious what she was thinking.

As I go about my daily routine, I always find some refreshing remarks, and these are no exception.

I think that over time, wearing a kilt everywhere will make you more witty =P

My response was because it is not his business what I wear, but though I like the comment, It shows that I am no better! Yes it is witty, and shows that if he was asked the question, what would he think, but I feel it is better that it is abruptly answered that it is none of their business, rather than carry the conversation further.
It did shut him up.

that is a great story, thanks for sharing that.
i've not had anything happen to me on that level. i've been wearing kilts full-time now for a month, and prior to that it has been a weekend thing for nearly a year. i am happy to report that i've not had any direct negative comments made. i either get questions, weird looks, neck-breaking double takes, or compliments.
i'm surprised at how many people recognize a Utilikilt when i NEVER see one around town other than the one i am wearing. a few times guys have told me they have kilts... and i just bite my tongue, cause i want to yell "and why are you not wearing it!?!?"... one time a lady in Barnes&Noble started asking me a long series of questions, like she was an anthropologist. i happily answered all of them. one guy in a sports-bar-men's-room declared in a boisterous drunk fashion that i must have big balls. at first thought he was thinking in terms of anatomy, but after a bit i realized he was commenting on my level of self-confidence.
friends and family at times like to follow behind me a few paces out in public just so they can see the various reactions.
i don't really like all the attention, but i do like knowing that i cause people to stop and think.

I had *no* comments when I went grocery shopping the other week in it. But the other night when some new friends saw me in one for the first time, I found several of them equated kilt-wearing with highland dancing. I don't think they quite believed me when I said I don't.
