I try to run every day now that I'm getting back into shape. I don't tend to run kilted, but I do play soccer with my dog while kilted. And that gets a lot of stares from the neighbours.

Not any more, because I'm 55 now and a bit overweight. In my younger days I've run over 100 half marathons, and lots of 10k races, mostly in shorts, but occasionally in kilts. Last year I took part in the Great North Run and walked part of the way and took a few pictures, posted here:-

First time I'd tried jogging in a lightweight polycotton kilt which I found much more suitable than the wool kilts I'd run in previously.

Not a runner myself, knee problems, yet I do know of several runners. One of which is really into it, and one time a group he runs with decided to get a running Kilt for each of the members. Said it was a wonderful experience, yet he does not do it any more. As a side bar he will be in Scotland this summer to do some research, so maybe.

I did a 5k back in High school at the end of a summer cross country camp race in a great kilt. It was cumbersome and hot. I dont recomend it.

There are several kilted running races at Grandfather Mountain for various age groups. Like the Heavy Athletes they all seem to wear something under the kilt - lycra shorts being the most seen.

I've only begun running again recently and haven't raced yet, but I may give it a go in a SK. Personally, I think they're better for the post race party.

I have however, played lacrosse in a kilt. I was asked to sub last minute and didn't have any shorts with me...
