oooo, love me some Teada!
First heard them in little ol' Harrison, Arkansas and then delighted to find them again at the North Texas Irish Festival.
If they are in your town, and they do travel extensively, go take a listen!

The Arizona Highland Celtic Festival takes place this year July 21 and 22. You can find out more info here: http://www.nachs.info/flagstafffestival.asp
I know I am biased but I really do think we put on not only one heck of a fun festival, but a highly educational one as well.
And back to Irish bands: I saw Solas in 1996 when they first started out and I have adored them ever since. Easily my most listened to CDs. I also really enjoy Danu and Dervish, both of whome have come to Flagstaff.

I like a lot of the bands listed above. I'd like to also add The Levellers. They're a great modern celtic rock band that is political without being pretentious.

For a local band, Beltaine, out of Durango, CO.
For old school Irish tunes, my favorite Irish band of all time is the Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem. Nobody puts a better spin on a punch line of a funny song than they do. You'd also be hard pressed to find anyone more expressive on a heartfelt ballad than Liam Clancy.
For new school, I'm all about Gaelic Storm. The redhead and I went to see them this past March, and it was the best concert of any that I have ever been to, of any genre. If I come up with a lottery win, I may toy with the notion of following them on tour like people used to follow the Grateful Dead.

Seconds on that. I saw them at Revolution Hall in Troy, NY last year. They put on an awesome live show. Full of energy and crowd banter from beginning to end. I also thought it was really cool that the group hung out with the audience before the show.
