There are a few tie-dye kilts at Grandfather Mtn (party camp). I saw them in '05. They were UK Workman's in white. UK is offering them again (none currently in my size), and I plan on getting one to dye black, green & yellow (gold). Hiroshi assures me that they are fully dye-able. I couldn't do the brighter colors.

Not a kilt but definitely tie-dyed! Purchased at the Portland Saturday Market BEFORE I found my freedom and my senses.

    Fearless? No.

Acceptance. I can not change that the majority of people I meet around me where I live think I am wearing a skirt. I can, should I choose, to skirt around the issue, or I can just accept it. If I lived in fear of what people thought about me, I'd miss out on a lot of fun. And good things in life. Since I am already pushing the limits anyway by wearing a kilt, and stretching peoples' tolerance levels, I might as well go all of the way and enjoy my self. Like wearing a tie dyed kilt. People could not possibly think any less of me... So there is no point, no logic, no sense in only going half way. You might as well go all out. Tie dye kilt AND tie dye kilt hose. With a nice Hawaiian shirt maybe.

A tie dyed great kilt would be 31 different flavours of awesome.

Every year, the Santa Cruz chapter of the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society throws a monthly party (June, I believe) that is Hawaiian themed. I made a joke about making a tie dye kilt. Think I'm going to have to live up to this challenge, although will probably have to wait until next year. I'm picturing an X-Kilt. The problem is that Panache may wear Camo, but I think tie dye is a little beyond his comfort level!

    Be well,

    Be well,
A tropical print in a heavy rayon fabric would be more fitting for a Hawaiian themed kilt. Tie dye isn't necessarily Hawaiian.

It is possible to find heavy rayon in tropical prints in the 10 to 13 ounce range. I'm thinking that would make a pretty decent kilt for hot weather actually, seeing as how they use that stuff in tropical locations to make skirts, pants, suit jackets, and everything else.

Remember to pleat to the pineapple and always have fun.

Ain't me. I do have a vegan natural white UK workman's I've thought about dying tie dye and have had some advice from the board. So far, I like it natural white and have left it that way.

I do have an olde hippie friend up the road in Utah who said he would tie dye it...he does tie dye t-shirts and other stuff...

I'm having more fun wearing tie dye t-shirts with the white kilt...more variety.

    Yeah, right Mark!

(Besides, it's a rainbow boa not a tie-dye one. We cannot mix our tartans, y'know!!!)
